Beecher Springs Putnam County, Florida is a natural fresh water spring. The springs, formerly known as Sulphur
Springs, became known as Beecher Springs because Henry Ward Beecher and Harriett Beecher Stowe, the author of
Uncle Tom's Cabin, owned the nearby land. South of Welaka, a point of land sticking out into the St. Johns River is
known as Beecher Point. The springs can be reached by a short nature trail leading from the Fish Hatchery.
