This document is the result of a circular sent about family issues that may help the Pension department in future widow and children pension cases. In this case this document becomes the issue of
confusion. This document is also notorized.by J. W. Allen. The document states that he was married to Jane Lancaster whose maiden name was Jane Nattiel. who married in 1858 by Rev. Aubril of
the Catholic Church. He states that no records were kept of colored marriages. He answere that he was "never previously" married. Jane died in March 1889 in Jacksonville, Fl. He never remarried
since her death. He only has one child living, John Lancaster who was born Dec. 25, 1859. No mention of Hester Jenkins or the marriage in October 30, 1867. Abram Lancaster was a veteran of
the 33rd USCT Company F.

No. 1. Are you a married man? If so please state your wife's full name, and her maiden name.
Answer: Yes. Jane Lancaster Maiden name Jame Nattiel.

No. 2. When, where, and by whom were you married? Answer: At St. Augustine Fla about year 1858. By Rev. Ambris Catholic Church but no record kept.

No. 3. What record of marriage exists? Answer: No Record kept of colored people's marriages at that time. None can be found.

No. 4. Were you previously married? If so, please state the name of your former wife and the date and place of her death or divorce. Answer: Never previously married. My wife as stated above
died in March 1889 in
Jacksonville Fla. I have never remarried since her death.

No. 5. Have you any children living? If so, please state their names and the dates of their birth. Answer: I have but one child a son - named John Lancaster - born Dec 25, 1859. Now living.
