Letter from Ketchum to Sprague on Approval of Appropriation
for Staton Normal School

Major General Howard directs me to inform you, that he has approved of the appropriation, five thousand dollars, ($5,000)
from the Refugees and Freedmens fund, for Florida in aid of a Normal school, the erection of which is proposed at
Jacksonville Fla, by the American Freedmen Union Commission. The transfer of this Amount to be made as soon as the
proposed institution shall be legally incorporated, under the laws of Florida, and that you may cause the school building to be
erected in accordance with the plan proposed for it.
