Exhibit L
Case of Minors of William Morris, No. 171336

On this third day of January, 1876, at Palatka, County of Putnam State of Florida, before me, James H. Clements a Special Agent of the Pension Office, personally appeared
Elizabeth M Haughton, who, being by me duly sworn according to law, declares that her age is 48 years, that she resides at Palatka County of Putnam, State of Florida, and that
she is the eldest daughter of the late William D. Mosely former Governor of Florida, who was the owner of a Slave girl named Minerva Masson. Affiant thinks that said Minerva
Masson was married to Sonny Morris about a year before the late War (1861) before her marriage to said Morris she (Minerva) had two children who were the children of men
other than said Morris, one of said children was a boy named John. After her marriage with said Morris She had one child before she was carried away from Florida on the U. S.
Gunboat which child was a girl and was named Sarah. Sarah is now living with Mary Wilson her Aunt, Sarah was certainly Minerva's oldes child by said Morris. Minerva was married
once before she was married to said Morris, her first husband was named Duval. She was married to him in the Episcopal Church. She had two children by Duval. They both died
Young. When Minerva and William or Sonny Morris was taken away by the U. S. Gunboat they only had one Child (Sarah) Affiant never saw said Morris after he went away, don't
know what became of him, Minerva returned after the War. She then had another husband, heard Morris was dead, but had no particulars did not know he died in the Army, thinks
Sonny was a Nickname, heard Morris right name was William thinks Minerva and said Morris was married by a coloured Minister, don't recollectect positively. Affiant has no record,
her Father kept a record of births but not of Marriages, Affiant can't  give dates of events thinks Sarah the Child of William and Minerva Morris is about sixteen years old. Affiant is
certain that Sarah is the Child of William Morris. Minerva the Mother of Sarah died two years ago. Affiant is positive that John the Son of Minervais not the Son of Morris, but is the
Son of a Coloured Man in Tallahassee named Payton, Minerva was immoral before Marriage to Morris, after which she was rrespectable and properand further declares that he
has no interest, direct or indirect, in the claim of the Minors of William Morris for a Pension; affiant's oldest Brother resides in Texas and further saith not
